TDS in Water: What It Is and Why It Matters

🔍 What is TDS?

TDS stands for Total Dissolved Solids—it includes all the minerals, salts, metals, and impurities dissolved in your water.  TDS is measured in parts per million (ppm), and it affects the taste, safety, and quality of the water you drink.

💡 What Makes Up TDS?

Good minerals: Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium (in small amounts)

Harmful substances: Arsenic, Lead, Nitrates, Fluoride

 Industrial & chemical residues

Salts from pipelines or groundwater sources

🏠 Why TDS Matters for You:

Health: High TDS can lead to kidney stones, stomach issues, and long-term toxicity

Taste: Too much TDS makes water taste salty, metallic, or bitter

Appliances: High TDS causes scaling in geysers, kettles, and RO filters

RO System Life: Regular high-TDS input can damage RO membranes faster
